This programme seeks to inculcate into each participant the skills of:

  • Designing presentations, making their slides more attractive and impactful
  • Delivering presentations, becoming a charismatic, persuasive and convincing speaker
  • Directing presentations, overcoming tough questions, challenges and objections easily

At the end of the workshop, participants shall hold in their hands’ specific skills, knowledge and behaviours that can propel themselves and the organization toward greater results.

Program Outline

MODULE 1:  Understanding Audience, Outcomes and Objectives

  • The Law of Connection – that we must have the ability to speak directly to our audience’s needs and frontload the benefits, and that every presentation must be anchored to our audience’s point of view.

In other words, our audiences don’t care if we are the hero. They really care, however, if we can make THEM the hero in our presentations!

  • Understand how benefits, interests and needs drive behaviours and decision making in presentations, more so than logic and rational thinking

  • Getting Clear on Desired Objectives: Why we often fail at influencing or convincing other people in presentations when our own objectives and outcomes are fuzzy

  • Coaching and Role-Play exercises: We ask each individual participant to tell a short 2-minute presentation, and invite them to do self-evaluation at the end of their presentation. The trainer and facilitators will give verbal evaluation, and feedback for each participant to improve in the future

MODULE 2:  Tailored Approach in Planning a Convincing Presentation

  • Choosing a topic which is tailored to your audience. We meticulously determine the:

  1. timing for each segment of the presentation
  2. technology to be used (virtual polls and engagement tools)
  3. audience engagement (questions to the audience, use of suspense)
  4. best styles of communication with the intended audience (lay person vs technical)

MODULE 3:  Tailored Approach in Designing Presentation Materials and Storytelling

  • Meticulously tailor and design convincing and impactful presentation materials, optimized for both offline and online presentations, including reducing clutter, wise use of attractive content, examples, stories, scenarios and visuals suited for your audience and objectives

  • Starting with “WHY”: why it is vital to start every presentation by instantly connecting with the emotions of our audience, instead of explaining the “WHAT”s or the “HOW”s

  • Designing an optimal sequence and flow of the presentation, including strategic placement of the problem statement and proposing suitable call to actions

  • Marrying the merits of our ideas and proposals to the needs and benefits of the audience

  • The vital role of storytelling in presentations and relating complex concepts with strategic use of metaphors and analogies

  • Practical Design exercises: Utilizing the techniques, tools and methods learnt, we guide participants to create a presentation deck which can be used immediately at work

MODULE 4: Building Rapport with Your Audience and Confidence

  • No More Sorry! In many cultures around the world, presenters apologize unnecessarily because we think it is easier to get the buy-in of our audience – in truth, these unnecessary apologies greatly hurt our chances of building rapport and delivering a successful presentation. Instead of setting a negative tone for the rest of the presentation, there are far better and empowering ways to deliver a great impression!

  • Developing Executive Presence – How to create a presence and display a confident, capable and warm persona, and to understand the impact we have on our audiences

  • Perform public speaking comfortably to a large audience and presenting to higher management. Go into every presentation full of confidence, energy and good will

  • Building Rapport Fundamentals: Captivate your audience instantly, through the power of tonality, body language and sincere and honest appreciation

  • Role-Play exercises: We put participants in realistic presentation scenarios to master and utilize the techniques learnt, especially in terms of mastering tonality, projecting good body language and delivery with confidence

MODULE 5: Delivering a Convincing Presentation with Impact

  • Deliver like a UK Barrister: Participants will learn how to deliver a presentation with passion, warmth, eloquence, correct tone, tempo and energy, just like a UK Barrister, being a clear and effective communicator with masterful use of voice and body language

  • Reduce colloquial language (lah, leh, lor), filler language (uh, uhm, err…) and usage of fake accents

  • Audience Engagement: Understand the biggest needs of adult audiences, and how to cater to those needs by mastering the “Ratio”, allowing audience members to engage in and progressively contribute to an engaging presentation

  • Reading Off the Slides: Use these techniques to captivate audiences whilst maintaining eye contact with them, without making it overtly obvious that we are reading off the slides

  • Become a Masterful Storyteller to captivate the other person and effectively relay key messages and using sharp analogies to drive home discussion points

  • Convincingly “pitch and sell” new ideas, proposals or strategies to internal and external stakeholders

  • Coaching and Role-Play exercises: We ask each individual participant to deliver a longer, 5-minute formal presentation based on the materials designed earlier, and invite them to do self-evaluation at the end of their presentation. The trainer and facilitators will give verbal evaluation, and feedback for each participant to improve in the future

MODULE 6:  Answering Tough Questions Convincingly

  • Overcoming Objections: Recognize and transform potential objections, as well as addressing tough queries from the audience in a concise and confident manner

  • Fundamentals of winning audiences over to your way of thinking and getting the buy in of your audience by approaching questions by first emphasizing the common goals

  • Thank You for the Feedback: What to do if you disagree with the questioner, or if you don’t know the answer

MODULE 7: Putting It All Together: Practical Delivery Exercises

  • Role-Play exercises: participants will practice and master the knowledge and skills learnt, by to designing and delivering mock presentations catered to your organization’s needs. Some examples may include:
